KM distributes $5.7M settlement to former employees of Quality Meat Packers Ltd. and Toronto Abattoirs Ltd.

We are pleased to announce that KM has distributed a $5.7 million settlement that was achieved in litigation and labour board proceedings to all former unionized and certain salaried employees of Quality Meat Packers Ltd (“QMP”) and Toronto Abattoirs Ltd (“TAL”). This settlement will allow these employees who lost their jobs when QMP and TAL became bankrupt to receive a payment toward their unpaid severance pay. Sam Caetano, the Director of Region #6 UFCW Local 175 & 633, said “This is a remarkable result for the union and the employees.”
